Sims 3 Constrain Floor Elevation Tutorial

With sims 4 we lost a tool that hopefully ea will bring back let us manipulate our terrain to our hearts content which resulted in some amazing split level homes. Since floor elevation is no longer locked deleting foundation will now force the surrounding foundation to normal wall height. I would like to place a half wall roof on my new house however the squares do not appear on the top of the lowered wall for me to use the level.
