Sims 3 Cant Place Floor 2 Story

So i downloaded the dorm that simgurubritt made in the producer s walkthrough from the sims 3 exchange.

I ve built a second floor using a platform using stairs and including walls but when i get to adding doors it won t let me because it says that it can t put the door on a platform. I just got the sims 3 university and i don t like any of the dorms in the premade collage world. How can i fix this. But when i went to place it into the world i pressed place and all of the lot tags dissapeared. I built my first floor added stairs and the second floor is missing some tiles. Like i can t put flooring down on them or anything they just are holes in the floor.

Note i am using the appropriate cheats. Today after i placed a ladder then deleted it a hole in my floor appeared and i cannot place a floor tile over it. How do i get rid of this and why is it there and what happens if i just leave the holes there will the sims just like fall. When the first floor closed it should have automatically added a ceiling second floor if you accidentally deleted the ceiling second level.

More worryingly sims 3 automatically places floor tiles by stairs and those seem to be just not there.
