One of the most common issues from silhouette cameo beginners is that their cameo 3 autoblade is cutting through the vinyl or other material and the backing.

The silhouette cameo can cut lengths of vinyl or anything with a backing up to 10 feet long.
Whatever the reason both silhouette studio and your silhouette cameo need to be set up correctly to cut without a mat.
When you aren t cutting without a mat you can cut.
This will bring up a red cut border and will show you the maximum cut able area of your vinyl.
By cutting only the vinyl layer for example the paper backing holds the cut piece in place and prevents it from falling out while cutting and rolling through the silhouette cutting machine.
The same goes for the portrait 2 autoblade.
Next the pop out cut feature can be used only with the cameo 4 machine line.
Save those mats for cardstock.
